INDIA —In a bid to reinforce its leadership in high-tech manufacturing, the Karnataka State Cabinet approved the Karnataka Aerospace Policy 2026-31. The comprehensive regulatory framework sets ambitious operational benchmarks, targeting INR 600 billion in fresh capital commitments alongside the creation of 60,000 employment opportunities across the state over the next five years. To ensure balanced regional development, the state administration has structured differentiated incentive schemes specifically tailored to incentivize project developers and corporate entities to establish operations beyond the primary industrial center of Bengaluru.
The policy focuses on expanding advanced capabilities across key verticals, including aviation equipment, defense systems, autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles, satellite components, space technologies, and precision avionics. By establishing a tiered subsidy structure, the administration aims to build secondary industrial clusters that leverage the existing ecosystem of tier-one manufacturers and public sector research centers while broadening the state's manufacturing base.
The Government of Karnataka functions as the executive authority for the state, governing a region recognized as India's primary innovation hub. The state host key defense enterprises, space research facilities, and leading multinational technology campuses, driving significant industrial production and foreign direct investment.
This initiative addresses growing infrastructure pressures in urban industrial corridors by shifting advanced manufacturing incentives toward emerging districts. For enterprise decision-makers and global suppliers, the policy provides a predictable regulatory climate and financial relief mechanisms designed to offset initial capital expenditure. Modernizing regional supply chains and offering localized capital subsidies enables industrial players to scale manufacturing capabilities, reduce operational overhead, and deepen integration within South Asia's aerospace supply chain.
