INDIA —Indian renewable energy developer KPI Green Energy has secured a Letter of Intent to construct a wind-solar hybrid generation facility in Gujarat. Organized as a Group Captive Renewable Energy Partnership with an undisclosed domestic private firm, the utility asset will combine 33.6 MW of wind capacity alongside 43 MW DC solar generation to deliver an aggregate capacity of 76.6 MW DC. Execution, ownership, and ongoing operation will be handled through a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle, operating under a 25-year Energy Supply Agreement once operational.
KPI Green Energy is an integrated solar and hybrid power producer based in India, specializing in Independent Power Producer projects, Group Captive power solutions, and turnkey Engineering, Procurement, and Construction services for commercial clients. The company actively develops clean energy infrastructure to serve industrial consumers seeking dedicated power supply arrangements.
This development underscores the escalating demand among commercial and industrial consumers to secure long-term, low-carbon energy supplies through captive partnerships. Group captive frameworks allow industrial consumers to satisfy mandatory green energy targets while reducing grid tariff exposure, offering predictable operational expenses over multi-decade timeframes. Developing complementary wind and solar assets at a single site helps mitigate seasonal generation variances, providing a more stable output profile compared to standalone solar or wind farms.
The agreement strengthens KPI Green Energy's existing order pipeline within the commercial and industrial segment across western India. Mandated for commissioning within 14 months of receiving Stage-2 connectivity—and no later than December 31, 2027—the project reinforces regional supply chain activity in renewable infrastructure. By expanding its operational footprint across both Independent Power Producer and Group Captive business models, the firm continues to deepen its market presence in Gujarat's competitive green power landscape.
