Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a contract as part of a multinational consortium to extend the Riyadh Metro Red Line in Saudi Arabia. The project includes the design and turnkey construction of an 8.4 km metro corridor with new stations, supporting the Kingdom’s long-term urban mobility and infrastructure development plans.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded a contract by the Royal Commission of Riyadh City to participate in the extension of the Riyadh Metro Red Line, according to official disclosures. The contract forms part of an ultra-mega infrastructure project being executed by a consortium comprising Webuild S.p.A, L&T, Nesma & Partners Contracting, Alstom and IDOM.

The assigned scope covers the design and turnkey construction of an 8.4 km metro corridor featuring both elevated and underground sections, along with five new stations. The expansion is intended to strengthen Riyadh's public transport network as the Saudi capital continues to invest in large-scale urban infrastructure.

The project is expected to generate opportunities across the civil engineering, rail systems, construction materials, signalling and transport technology sectors while supporting Saudi Arabia's broader urban development objectives. It also reinforces demand for integrated engineering and execution capabilities in complex mass-transit projects across the Middle East.

L&T is an Indian multinational engineering, procurement and construction company with operations spanning infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and technology services.

The Royal Commission of Riyadh City is the government authority responsible for planning, developing and overseeing strategic infrastructure and urban development initiatives in the Saudi capital.
