INDIA; SAUDI ARABIA —Larsen & Toubro has secured a series of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts across India and the Middle East, falling into the company's 'mega' category valued between ₹50 billion and ₹100 billion. The order package, secured by its Power Transmission & Distribution vertical, centers on expanding high-voltage grid infrastructure and supporting green energy integration.
In Saudi Arabia, the company was selected for 380 kV transmission line and substation projects aimed at augmenting grid capacity and connecting renewable power generation units to the national network. Concurrently, the firm received an order in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to construct 132/11 kV substations and execute underlying cabling works. On the domestic front, a private sector developer awarded the business an EPC contract to build transmission lines and substations in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
These contract wins highlight the accelerating global investment in grid modernization, driven by the expansion of utility-scale renewable energy installations. As power generation shifts toward intermittent green sources, national grids require substantial high-voltage transmission upgrades and modern substations to ensure power reliability, manage load balancing, and prevent distribution bottlenecks.
For the engineering and infrastructure sector, the awards signal robust pipeline momentum in the Middle East's energy transition initiatives and India's private utility market. Infrastructure providers with end-to-end execution capability in high-voltage infrastructure are well-positioned to capture market share as governments and private developers step up capital expenditure to meet decarbonization targets.
Larsen & Toubro is a Mumbai-headquartered multinational conglomerate operating in EPC projects, high-tech manufacturing, and services across global markets. The company maintains an established presence in power transmission, heavy civil infrastructure, hydrocarbon, and defense manufacturing.
