Belgium-based chemical distributor Manuchar has agreed to acquire South African firm CJP Chemicals, a deal valued on the basis of the latter's annual revenues exceeding USD 100 million. The acquisition, pending antitrust approval in Q3 2026, aims to deepen Manuchar's regional coverage and broaden its specialty chemicals portfolio.

Manuchar, a global chemical distributor headquartered in Antwerp, has entered into an agreement to acquire CJP Chemicals, a South African distributor with operations across Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, and Gqeberha.

The target company, established in 1986, employs approximately 170 people and generates annual revenues exceeding USD 100 million, serving sectors including food and beverage, lubricants and energy, industrial manufacturing, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. The transaction represents a consolidation play in the high-growth African chemicals distribution market. Manuchar, which has maintained a local presence since 2003 with around 100 employees across three South African offices, will absorb CJP’s technical expertise and established customer networks. The combined entity will leverage Manuchar’s global logistics infrastructure spanning over 40 countries and 180 locations, with CJP’s specialty chemicals portfolio and regional supply chain capabilities.

For stakeholders in the chemicals value chain, the consolidation signals increased concentration among distributors serving industrial and specialty sectors. Manufacturers and buyers in food processing, pharmaceuticals, and industrial manufacturing may see expanded product access and potentially streamlined supply chains. The deal also highlights strategic interest in South Africa as a gateway to sub-Saharan African markets.

Manuchar is a global distributor of chemicals and raw materials, operating a network across the Americas, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. CJP Chemicals is a South Africa-based chemical distributor serving industrial and specialty sectors nationwide.
