Maruti Suzuki has expanded its five-year capital expenditure target to INR 775 billion through FY31. The increased allocation will support manufacturing expansion, new product development, research activities and comprehensive green energy initiatives across its operational footprint.

INDIA Maruti Suzuki India is the country’s premier passenger vehicle manufacturer, maintaining a dominant market presence through its extensive manufacturing and retail networks. The company manufactures a wide range of entry-level hatchbacks, utility vehicles, and sedans, operating as a key subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The automaker has escalated its cumulative capital deployment target to INR 775 billion for the five-year period ending in FY31. As part of this enhanced investment framework, the capital allocation for FY27 has been revised upward by 40 percent year-over-year to INR 140 billion, compared to the INR 100 billion planned in the preceding fiscal year. This strategic adjustment surpasses the parent company's previously outlined multi-year investment estimate of INR 700 billion for the Indian market.

The expanded capital pool will fund comprehensive operational enhancements, including facility expansion, new vehicle development, advanced research and development, and supply chain logistics. A substantial portion of the funds will target sustainability and decarbonization measures across manufacturing plants. The company plans to scale its internal solar power capacity from 79.1 MW in FY26 to 211.3 MW by FY31, aiming to cover approximately 35 percent of its total operational electricity demands. Additional energy requirements will be offset using external solar and wind power procurement, alongside the integration of biomass facilities at key manufacturing hubs in Manesar, Kharkhoda, and Sanand. Furthermore, all vehicle models produced since 2008 remain fully compatible with E20 fuel blends.

This aggressive capital commitment underscores the accelerating transition toward low-emission manufacturing and diversified powertrain technologies within the South Asian automotive sector. By strengthening localized supply chains, expanding production infrastructure, and integrating renewable energy into factory operations, the initiative establishes a higher benchmark for sustainable industrial practices. Component suppliers, energy providers, and equipment manufacturers stand to gain significant commercial opportunities from the prolonged investment cycle.

From a broader market perspective, the investment reinforces long-term confidence in domestic passenger vehicle demand and export capabilities. The substantial capital outlay enables Maruti Suzuki to defend its dominant market share against aggressive domestic and foreign competitors while complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. For institutional investors and industry stakeholders, the decision signals a disciplined capital allocation strategy focused on future-proofing manufacturing operations and sustaining cost leadership.
