Matrix Renewables has begun building the 457 MWdc Tormes Solar Project in Navarro County, Texas. Backed by more than $750 million in investment, the development is expected to create hundreds of construction jobs, strengthen grid capacity, and expand renewable energy infrastructure in a key U.S. power market.

Matrix Renewables and engineering, procurement, and construction contractor SOLV Energy have commenced construction of the Tormes Solar Project in Navarro County, Texas, following a groundbreaking event held on May 19. According to official disclosures, the photovoltaic facility will have a planned capacity of 457 MWdc and is being developed near the communities of Barry and Corsicana.

The project represents more than $750 million in renewable energy investment and adds to the ongoing buildout of utility-scale solar infrastructure across Texas. Once operational, the facility is expected to supply electricity to the state's power grid while contributing recurring tax revenues and lease-related income to local stakeholders.

The development is significant for the renewable energy, construction, and power sectors, as large-scale solar projects continue to play a growing role in meeting rising electricity demand and supporting grid diversification. During the construction phase, the project is projected to support approximately 450 local and regional jobs, creating economic activity within the surrounding area.

For investors and market participants, the project highlights continued capital deployment into U.S. clean energy assets and reinforces Texas' position as a major destination for utility-scale renewable energy development. Matrix Renewables, a global renewable energy platform backed by TPG Rise, develops and operates clean energy projects across multiple markets, while SOLV Energy specializes in engineering and construction services for large-scale solar and energy storage facilities.
