Metso has secured a five-year Life Cycle Services agreement worth more than EUR 40 million with a major copper producer in South America. The contract combines analyzer upgrades, new sampling systems, digital support, maintenance and operational services, linking mining process technology with longer-term performance-based service delivery.

SOUTH AMERICA Metso has entered a five-year Life Cycle Services agreement with a major copper producer in South America valued at more than EUR 40 million, marking the company’s largest analyzer services agreement to date. The first portion has been recorded in Metso’s Minerals segment third-quarter orders, while additional amounts will be recognized as contractual milestones are achieved.

The arrangement covers the modernization of existing analyzer systems as well as installation of new analyzers and sampling equipment. Metso will also provide engineering, technical assistance, spare parts, digital support and operation and maintenance services throughout the five-year term.

The analyzer technology will provide measurements of elemental composition and particle size directly from mining process streams. Such measurements can be used for process monitoring and control, allowing operators to adjust processing parameters based on operating conditions and material characteristics.

The deal is significant for the mining services market because it moves beyond a conventional equipment supply model by combining hardware, engineering, digital capabilities and ongoing operational support within one commercial arrangement. This structure places greater emphasis on maintaining equipment performance and supporting defined operating objectives over the life of the agreement.

For copper producers and other mineral processing operators, analyzer modernization can form part of broader efforts to improve process visibility and operational consistency. Equipment suppliers, automation providers, maintenance specialists and digital technology companies are consequently positioned to participate in longer-term service arrangements as mining companies seek integrated support for critical processing systems.

The agreement also expands Metso’s exposure to recurring aftermarket revenue in South America. Further order recognition linked to predefined milestones provides a staged revenue profile, while the five-year service period establishes an ongoing relationship with the copper producer beyond the initial equipment and engineering scope.

Metso is a supplier of equipment, technologies and services for the mining, aggregates and metals processing industries. Its Life Cycle Services offering covers long-term support and performance improvement across equipment and aftermarket activities, with more than 600 active contracts globally according to the company.
