NASA awards $76m data science contract to Development Seed for Marshall space flight center

NASA has selected Development Seed for a $76 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide R&D services to the Office of Data Science and Informatics at Marshall Space Flight Center. The contract includes a two-year base period with three one-year options through June 2031.

According to an official disclosure, NASA has awarded a performance-based, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to Development Seed of Washington, D.C., with a maximum potential value of $76 million. The agreement supports the Office of Data Science and Informatics (ODSI) at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

A phase-in period begins May 15, 2026, followed by a two-year base ordering period and three one-year options extending services through June 2031. The scope includes scientific R&D support, system architecture, operations and maintenance of ODSI-developed platforms, data curation and stewardship, and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions for science data systems. This development matters because NASA’s growing volumes of earth and space science data require advanced informatics and automation.

For AI/ML vendors, cloud service providers, and open-source data platform specialists, the contract signals continued federal investment in scalable data infrastructure.
