NCC has secured a SEK 220 million contract to renovate 350 residential units in Aalborg, Denmark, for municipal housing company Himmerlands Boligförening. The programme covers homes built in the early 1980s and includes structural, site and wastewater works, with construction beginning in October 2026 and completion planned for spring 2031.

DENMARK NCC will undertake the refurbishment of 350 residential properties in Aalborg, Denmark, after being commissioned by municipal housing company Himmerlands Boligförening. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 220 million and covers both row houses and detached houses constructed in the early 1980s.

The properties will receive different levels of renovation, with the scope extending across several elements of the buildings and surrounding infrastructure. NCC will perform demolition and remediation, as well as groundworks, concreting and masonry. The contract also includes wastewater and paving works, creating a broad programme covering structural, utility and external site requirements.

Work is scheduled to start in October 2026 and is expected to be completed in spring 2031. The extended delivery period means the project will involve sustained construction activity in Aalborg, with requirements spanning general contracting, civil works, building materials, remediation and wastewater-related services.

The development is relevant to Denmark’s residential refurbishment market because it involves the renewal of an existing municipal housing portfolio rather than construction of new homes. For housing operators, programmes of this type provide a mechanism to address ageing residential assets through targeted renovation. Contractors and specialist suppliers involved in refurbishment, civil engineering, building works and utility infrastructure are among the directly affected industry participants.

NCC will record the approximately SEK 220 million order in the third quarter of 2026 within its Building Nordics business area. NCC is a Nordic construction company involved in building and infrastructure projects, asphalt and stone materials production, and commercial property development. Its operations span the Nordic region, including Denmark, where the Aalborg refurbishment will be executed.
