GERMANY —Netel has entered into a contract with regional utility provider Sachsen Energie valued at approximately SEK 40 million to build critical communications and power infrastructure in Germany. Under the terms of the agreement, Netel will execute the construction of a fiber-to-the-home network alongside the laying of power cables in Struppen, located southeast of Dresden. The infrastructure deployment spans approximately 19.2 kilometers and incorporates 215 individual household connections, with overall project completion scheduled for the spring of 2028.
Sachsen Energie provides energy, water, and telecommunications services to approximately 600,000 customers across Germany. Netel Holding AB is a specialist provider of critical infrastructure development and maintenance across the telecom, power, and infraservices sectors, reporting net sales of SEK 2.915 billion in 2025 with approximately 800 employees. The awarded scope directly supports Sachsen Energie's ongoing strategy to expand regional fiber coverage and establish high-performance broadband networks throughout its service area.
The agreement underscores the sustained momentum of fixed-network modernization across Germany and the European continent. Municipalities and utility providers are increasingly combining power infrastructure upgrades with fiber-optic rollouts to streamline civil works, reduce total deployment expenditure, and fulfill regional digital connectivity mandates.
For industry stakeholders and investors, Netel's expanded footprint in the German market reflects growing opportunities for specialized infrastructure contractors in European telecommunications. By securing long-term service agreements with established utility operators, engineering service providers can build predictable revenue pipelines amid broader regional pushes for digital transformation and network reliability.
