Nexans to acquire Republic Wire to capture growth in US low-voltage cable market

Nexans has entered an agreement to acquire 100% of Ohio-based Republic Wire, Inc. for its established manufacturing and distribution platform. The deal, valued at approximately €520 million in annual revenue, significantly expands Nexans' footprint in the high-demand North American residential, commercial, and data center sectors.

Nexans has reached an agreement to acquire Republic Wire, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer of aluminum and copper wire products based in Cincinnati. According to official disclosures, Republic Wire generated approximately €520 million in revenue for the 12-month period ending February 2026. The acquisition includes a highly automated 32.5k square meter factory and a new 30k square meter distribution center.

Nexans is a global leader in cable and optical fiber manufacturing, specializing in electrification and grid transition solutions. This acquisition is a strategic pivot to capitalize on the €12 billion U.S. low-voltage market, which is currently benefiting from robust expansion in residential construction and data center infrastructure. By integrating Republic Wire, Nexans secures a sophisticated industrial platform with a 30% capacity increase slated for completion by year-end 2026. This move follows Nexans’ previous acquisition of Electro Cables in Canada, creating a comprehensive North American manufacturing hub.

For investors and industry stakeholders, the transaction offers significant value through projected run-rate synergies of €23 million within three years. These efficiencies are expected to stem from manufacturing IP deployment, procurement scale, and cross-selling Nexans’ medium-voltage and grid technologies through Republic Wire’s established sales agent network. Strategically, this deal reduces Nexans' vulnerability to regional cycles by establishing a permanent, high-volume presence in one of the world's most resilient electrification markets. As North American power grids undergo modernization, Nexans is now better positioned to serve municipal and utility clients with a localized supply chain, mitigating logistics costs and enhancing speed-to-market.
