Noida International Airport nears launch as first phase construction reaches final stage

Construction of the first phase of Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh is nearly complete, positioning the greenfield project for initial operations with a single runway and capacity for about 12 million passengers annually. The project is expected to expand significantly as traffic demand rises, shaping regional aviation and logistics growth.

Construction of the first phase of Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, has reached about 95% completion, with remaining works expected to conclude by November 10, according to official disclosures. The initial operational stage will include a single runway and infrastructure capable of handling roughly 12 million passengers annually, with around 150 daily flight movements anticipated once services begin. The airport is being developed across a large site in Gautam Budh Nagar district, with approximately 3,300 acres allocated for the first phase.

Authorities have already acquired about 6,700 acres for the broader project and plan to secure an additional 5,100 acres in the coming months to support future expansion. The greenfield aviation project represents a major infrastructure investment for northern India. Land acquisition has cost approximately Rs 50 billion, while construction spending for the current phase is estimated at about Rs 70 billion.

Officials indicated that a second runway will be initiated once annual passenger traffic surpasses 10 million, which would raise capacity to roughly 70 million passengers per year. Noida International Airport is planned as a multi-runway aviation hub designed to complement existing capacity in the National Capital Region. Once fully developed, the site is expected to span nearly 11,750 acres with up to five runways and a long-term capacity of around 300 million passengers annually. The project is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and stimulate growth in logistics, tourism, trade, and urban development across western Uttar Pradesh and the wider Delhi-NCR economic corridor.
