NuEnergy Gas has finalized a AUD 128 million contract with PT Beijing Energy Linking to develop the Tanjung Enim coal bed methane asset in Indonesia, eliminating upfront capital requirements via a production-linked repayment model.

NuEnergy Gas has finalized a field service contract valued at 128 million Australian dollars to advance its flagship Tanjung Enim coal bed methane (CBM) asset in Indonesia. Under the terms of the agreement, PT Beijing Energy Linking (PT BEL) will completely fund the project's development costs, assuming responsibility for drilling, construction, well testing, and the execution of a critical dewatering program designed to reach a plateau production target of up to 24 million standard cubic feet per day.

NuEnergy Gas is an Australia-listed oil and gas exploration company focused on the development of unconventional gas assets in Indonesia. This agreement shifts the financial burden of early-stage development, as PT BEL will be reimbursed through future gas production and generated revenues rather than upfront capital outlays. For capital-intensive unconventional gas projects, this structures a lower-risk pathway toward commercialization by preserving the developer's liquidity during the volatile exploration-to-production phase.

The deal directly impacts the Southeast Asian energy sector, specifically regional drilling contractors, CBM infrastructure providers, and the Indonesian domestic gas supply network. By securing external funding and technical execution from a specialized partner, NuEnergy stabilizes its project timeline while providing investors with a de-risked framework for infrastructure deployment. This funding model highlights an evolving trend where service providers assume upfront financial risk in exchange for long-term equity or production shares in strategic energy reserves.
