NVIDIA and IREN Limited have entered a strategic partnership to develop up to 5 gigawatts of AI-optimized data center capacity. The agreement includes a $2.1 billion investment option for NVIDIA and centers on building massive 'AI factories' using the NVIDIA DSX architecture, primarily at IREN’s 2-gigawatt Texas campus.

NVIDIA and IREN Limited have finalized a strategic collaboration to accelerate the global buildout of large-scale AI infrastructure. According to official disclosures, the partnership targets the deployment of up to 5 gigawatts of power capacity optimized for NVIDIA’s DSX-aligned architecture. As part of the arrangement, NVIDIA has secured a five-year right to invest up to $2.1 billion in IREN through the purchase of 30 million shares at $70 per share. NVIDIA is a world leader in accelerated computing and AI hardware, while IREN is an infrastructure specialist focused on data centers, renewable energy power, and high-performance computing operations.

This development is significant as it addresses the critical scarcity of power-ready land and high-density data center capacity required for next-generation generative AI. By integrating NVIDIA’s specialized DSX factory architecture directly with IREN’s physical infrastructure expertise, the companies aim to bypass traditional deployment bottlenecks. The 2-gigawatt Sweetwater campus in Texas is slated to become the flagship site for this initiative, serving as a blueprint for AI-native enterprise computing.

For the technology and energy sectors, this partnership reinforces the trend of hardware manufacturers vertically integrating with infrastructure providers to secure operational footprints. The move impacts power utilities, specialized construction firms, and enterprise cloud users who require massive, low-latency compute resources. Strategically, for investors, NVIDIA’s multibillion-dollar investment option signals high confidence in IREN’s ability to scale physical assets. As grid congestion intensifies, securing long-term power and land through such partnerships is becoming a competitive necessity for firms aiming to lead in the age of large-scale artificial intelligence.
