OceanaGold Corporation reported high-grade exploration results from its Wharekirauponga deposit in New Zealand while assessing a throughput expansion to 1.2 million tonnes per annum at its Waihi Operation, aiming to overlap operations across multiple underground mine deposits.

NEW ZEALAND —OceanaGold Corporation announced high-grade assay results from 16 new drill holes at the Wharekirauponga deposit, located 10 kilometres north of its Waihi Operation in New Zealand. Exploration and resource conversion activities at the East Graben vein system confirmed the extension of high-grade gold mineralization outside currently modeled reserves, with intercepts reaching up to 97.2 grams per tonne of gold over 6.3 metres. Five active drill rigs are operating on site to advance resource conversion and test step-out targets along strike, supporting a anticipated upgrade of Inferred resources to Indicated status in upcoming technical filings.

Parallel engineering evaluations are assessing an expansion of the Waihi processing facility from 0.8 million tonnes per annum to 1.2 million tonnes per annum. The proposed throughput increase aims to extend the operational life of the producing Martha Underground mine past 2033, enabling concurrent extraction and milling alongside the Wharekirauponga Underground mine once production commences in 2032. Development at the Waihi North Project remains on schedule, with decline tunnelling advancing 350 metres since May 2026, commissioning underway on a water treatment plant, and early works for a tailings storage facility scheduled for late 2026.

OceanaGold Corporation is a mid-tier multinational gold and copper producer operating four primary mining sites: the Haile Gold Mine in the United States, the Macraes and Waihi operations in New Zealand, and the Didipio mine in the Philippines. The company focuses on organic reserve expansion and operational efficiency across its precious metals asset base.

The integration of expanded milling infrastructure across regional gold deposits enhances economic resilience for intermediate mining producers facing reserve depletion. Concurrent processing allows mining operators to amortize capital costs across multiple asset feeds, mitigating single-asset risks and optimizing long-term throughput capacity. For institutional investors and capital markets, successful resource conversion and processing scalability at core mining districts reduce development risks and strengthen long-term net asset valuations across the gold mining sector.
