L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore has secured an offshore contract valued between 25 billion and 50 billion from ONGC to execute engineering and construction works for the Ratna-I and NLM-14 field developments off India's west coast.

INDIA State-backed energy enterprise Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has selected L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore to implement major infrastructure developments across its west coast offshore assets. Under the agreement, the engineering and construction division will perform comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning works for the Additional Development of Ratna-I alongside the NLM-14 initiative. The scope encompasses installing three new well-head platforms, a riser platform, extensive subsea pipeline and cabling networks, and conducting brownfield integration on active off-coast installations.

This infrastructural investment underscores India's strategic push to maximize domestic hydrocarbon extraction and bolster energy security through the revitalization of existing offshore fields. Upgrading aging infrastructure while integrating new extraction points requires specialized execution capabilities, highlighting the growing demand for complex offshore engineering solutions in mature energy basins. Mumbai-headquartered Larsen & Toubro is a $32 billion multinational conglomerate operating in heavy engineering, construction, manufacturing, and technology services across global markets.

The expansion directly impacts the oil and gas sector, marine engineering industries, and regional energy supply chains by sustaining domestic crude and natural gas output. For institutional investors and market participants, the capital allocation signals continued upstream capital expenditure by national oil entities despite global market fluctuations. Contract execution will also drive demand for specialized offshore marine vessels, subsea fabrication facilities, and auxiliary industrial equipment across India's energy infrastructure supply chain.
