OpenAI has raised $110 billion in new funding led by Amazon, SoftBank, and NVIDIA, valuing the AI company at a $730 billion pre-money level. The deal deepens OpenAI’s cloud and enterprise ties with Amazon Web Services and signals intensifying competition for dominance in advanced AI infrastructure and applications.

OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT and other advanced artificial intelligence systems, has obtained $110 billion in new capital commitments from Amazon, SoftBank, and NVIDIA, according to statements by Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman. The transaction assigns the company a pre-money valuation of $730 billion. Amazon will contribute $50 billion overall, beginning with $15 billion upfront and the remainder subject to agreed conditions, while SoftBank and NVIDIA have each committed $30 billion. Additional investors may participate as the round progresses.

The financing coincides with a significant expansion of OpenAI’s commercial partnership with Amazon. Under a multiyear arrangement, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will act as the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI Frontier offerings. The companies plan to enlarge an existing $38 billion cloud agreement by an additional $100 billion over eight years and collaborate on customized AI models for Amazon’s developer ecosystem and customer-facing platforms.

OpenAI, founded in 2015 and now one of the most influential AI research and deployment companies globally, is central to enterprise adoption of generative AI. Amazon is a multinational technology group with leading positions in e-commerce and cloud computing through AWS.

The scale of this funding underscores escalating capital requirements in frontier AI development, particularly for compute infrastructure and semiconductor supply. The deal strengthens AWS’s competitive position in cloud-based AI services and reinforces NVIDIA’s role in high-performance AI hardware. For enterprises and investors, the transaction signals continued consolidation of AI capabilities among a small group of technology leaders and raises the barrier to entry for emerging competitors.
