FRANCE —French automotive supplier OPmobility has entered into a binding agreement to purchase the entire lighting business of South Korea's Hyundai Mobis for an enterprise value of 600 billion South Korean won. The target division recorded 2.5 trillion South Korean won in revenue during 2025 alongside a positive operating margin. The transaction is projected to close during the second half of 2027, subject to customary regulatory clearances and antitrust approvals, with no material impact anticipated on OPmobility's net deleveraging trajectory on a proforma basis.
OPmobility is a global automotive equipment manufacturer headquartered in France, specializing in exterior modules, energy storage solutions, and lighting systems. Hyundai Mobis is the dedicated parts and service division of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group, developing automotive components, module manufacturing, and electronic assemblies globally.
Through this acquisition, OPmobility secures five manufacturing facilities located across South Korea, China, Mexico, and the Czech Republic. The deal significantly enhances the company's operational scale, proprietary technology architecture, and customer diversity, while strengthening its position within the rapidly evolving automotive lighting and exterior integration sector.
This transaction signals continued consolidation among tier-one automotive suppliers seeking operational scale to navigate shifting global supply chains and EV platform transitions. For vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and automotive investors, the integration unifies advanced lighting technology across key manufacturing hubs in Asia, Europe, and North America, fostering cross-regional supplier stability and broader product offerings.
