CANADA —Paladin Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of Paladin Energy, has signed a Mutual Benefits Agreement (MBA) with the Birch Narrows Dene Nation (BNDN) covering the Patterson Lake South (PLS) Project in Saskatchewan. The agreement applies throughout the project lifecycle, including development, production, decommissioning and reclamation.
The MBA establishes arrangements for economic and social benefits associated with the project and provides a framework for continued engagement between Paladin Canada and BNDN. BNDN has also confirmed its support and consent for the project across its planned phases.
The agreement is relevant to the PLS Project’s regulatory pathway because it provides federal and provincial regulators with confirmation of BNDN’s support and sets out mechanisms for ongoing consultation as permitting and licensing activities progress. For the project, securing such an agreement can help establish a framework for engagement with an Indigenous community whose traditional territory encompasses the development area.
The MBA is the third agreement of this type secured for the PLS Project. Paladin previously reached agreements with the Buffalo River Dene Nation and the Clearwater River Dene Nation in February 2025. Together, these arrangements form part of the project's stakeholder engagement framework as Paladin advances its Saskatchewan uranium development plans.
For businesses and investors involved in uranium mining and project development, the agreement represents progress on a key non-technical aspect of project advancement.
