Panasonic has begun taking orders in Europe for new coolant distribution units and free-cooling chillers designed for generative AI data centers. The launch reflects accelerating demand for advanced thermal management as computing power density increases across next-generation AI infrastructure.

Panasonic announced it has opened European orders for multiple thermal management systems designed for generative AI data centers, including coolant distribution units (CDUs) rated at 400 kW and 800 kW and free-cooling chillers with capacities of 800 kW and 1,200 kW. The company also indicated that higher-capacity CDU systems exceeding 1,200 kW are under development and expected to become available for order within March 2026, according to official disclosures.

Panasonic Corporation is a Japan-based multinational electronics and industrial technology company with operations spanning energy systems, consumer electronics, mobility solutions, and building technologies. Its Heating & Ventilation A/C Company develops thermal management solutions for commercial and industrial infrastructure. The rollout comes as AI data centers deploy increasingly power-intensive processors that generate higher heat loads than traditional computing systems.

Liquid-cooling technologies such as CDUs are becoming essential for maintaining stable operating conditions in high-density server environments, particularly for facilities supporting generative AI workloads. For Europe’s data center ecosystem, the expansion reflects growing infrastructure investment driven by AI adoption, cloud computing demand, and regional digital sovereignty initiatives. Operators, colocation providers, and hyperscale cloud companies are prioritizing efficient cooling technologies to manage energy consumption and meet sustainability targets. The move positions Panasonic to capture opportunities in the rapidly expanding data center cooling market, where equipment suppliers are competing to provide scalable thermal solutions capable of supporting next-generation AI hardware deployments.
