Patel Engineering JV secures Rs.1.26 billion lift irrigation contract in Maharashtra

A joint venture led by Patel Engineering has secured a Rs.1.26 billion water infrastructure contract from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. The 48-month lift irrigation project highlights ongoing regional investments in agricultural water management across Western India.

The Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation has awarded a Rs.1263.7 million engineering contract to a joint venture led by Patel Engineering Limited. Patel Engineering holds a controlling 51% stake in the consortium, translating to an individual project value of Rs.644.5 million. Headquartered in Mumbai, Patel Engineering is a major Indian infrastructure company specializing in tunneling, hydro-projects, and water management systems. This newly commissioned Tasgaon Lift Irrigation Scheme, situated in the Satara district of Maharashtra, is scheduled for completion within a 48-month timeframe.

This development underscores the sustained capital allocation toward agricultural water resilience in regions prone to seasonal deficits. The contract involves comprehensive civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, including the construction of pump houses, headworks, switchyards, and a modernized closed pipe distribution network. Once operational, the system will establish reliable water distribution across 2,277 hectares of arable land spanning six villages.
