SWEDEN —Peab has secured a SEK 349 million turnkey contract from Hitachi Energy Sweden AB covering the renovation and expansion of an existing facility in eastern Landskrona, Sweden. The development will create a combined 24,000 square metres of upgraded production and office space, with construction scheduled to begin in September 2026 and finish in March 2028.
The project is structured around the modernization and expansion of industrial premises rather than the construction of an entirely new site. Approximately 18,000 square metres will comprise production halls, while a further 6,000 square metres will provide office accommodation. The facility is located just north of Landskrona railway station in the eastern part of the city.
The scale of the development is relevant to Hitachi Energy’s manufacturing footprint in Sweden, particularly as industrial companies continue to require facilities capable of supporting production, engineering and administrative activities within the same operational environment. For Peab, the contract adds a substantial industrial construction assignment to its regional order intake.
The facility will be developed in accordance with Miljöbyggnad Silver 4.0 for Renovation certification. Applying the certification framework to an existing building places the work within the broader market for resource-efficient refurbishment and improved building performance, alongside the physical expansion of production capacity.
The project also has implications for the construction and industrial property sectors in southern Sweden. Contractors, engineering suppliers and building-material providers can be involved across renovation, extension and technical installation activities, while the expansion supports continued use of Landskrona as a location for industrial operations.
For businesses monitoring industrial investment, the contract provides visibility into planned capital development at an established energy technology manufacturing location. The turnkey structure gives Peab responsibility for delivering the renovation and extension, while Hitachi Energy remains the customer and future user of the expanded premises.
Peab is a Swedish construction and civil engineering group operating across the Nordic region. Hitachi Energy is an energy technology company supplying equipment and systems used in electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. The Landskrona assignment will be registered within Peab’s Construction business area during the third quarter of 2026.
