Peab has secured a SEK 440 million contract from Botkyrka Municipality to renovate its ten-floor town hall in Sweden. The project will combine structural rebuilding, technical upgrades, facade work and improvements to shared areas, with construction scheduled from autumn 2026 through spring 2029 under Miljöbyggnad Silver criteria.

SWEDEN Peab has secured a SEK 440 million assignment from Botkyrka Municipality to renovate Botkyrka Town Hall in Botkyrka, Sweden. The contract covers a comprehensive modernization of the existing municipal building rather than construction of a new facility. The work is scheduled to begin in autumn 2026 and is expected to reach completion in spring 2029.

The 13,500-square-meter town hall, which extends across ten floors, will undergo demolition and rebuilding within existing premises alongside upgrades to technical systems. The scope also includes a new facade and refurbishment of the entrance and common areas, changing both the building's physical condition and its operational infrastructure.

The project is being delivered as a turnkey contract, giving Peab responsibility for coordinating the renovation works through completion. The assignment is expected to be registered as an order in Peab's Construction business area during the third quarter of 2026.

The project is also structured around the criteria of Miljöbyggnad Silver, with requirements focused on energy efficiency, resource-efficient construction and reduced climate impact. For the municipality, renovating an existing ten-floor building can support modernization of public facilities while retaining the underlying building resource rather than replacing it entirely.

For the Swedish construction sector, the award adds a sizeable public-building refurbishment project to the near-term pipeline, with work spanning structural renovation, building services, facade construction and interior common areas. It also illustrates continued demand for upgrading existing municipal assets to meet changing operational and environmental requirements.

Peab is a Nordic construction group active in construction and civil engineering, with its Construction business area undertaking building projects. Botkyrka Municipality is the public-sector customer responsible for the town hall and will oversee the facility's future use and requirements.
