Gas Malaysia Berhad has partnered with PETRONAS Gas Berhad through a Joint Study and Collaboration Agreement to assess and develop an onshore lateral pipeline for the proposed LNG regasification terminal in Yan, Kedah.

MALAYSIA A joint study agreement between Gas Malaysia Berhad and PETRONAS Gas Berhad marks a critical step forward in expanding Malaysia's natural gas infrastructure. Under the collaboration, both entities will jointly evaluate and construct an onshore lateral pipeline designed to connect the upcoming liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Yan, Kedah, to the broader distribution network.

Gas Malaysia Berhad is a premier Malaysian natural gas provider focused on the distribution and retail of natural gas to industrial, commercial, and residential sectors. PETRONAS Gas Berhad, an infrastructure subsidiary of national oil firm PETRONAS, operates extensive gas processing and transmission pipelines across Peninsular Malaysia.

This infrastructural venture follows the regulatory clearance granted by the Energy Commission of Malaysia to proceed with the Liquefied Natural Gas Regasification Terminal Yan project. Developing dedicated pipeline connections in northern Peninsular Malaysia enhances energy security, diversifies supply routes, and directly supports heavy industrial growth across local economic corridors.

For energy markets and industrial players, the new pipeline system will optimize natural gas dispatch efficiency, mitigate supply vulnerabilities, and establish regional fuel stability. The project creates long-term integration opportunities for power generators, manufacturing hubs, and logistics stakeholders looking to leverage cleaner energy sources.
