PMW International Berhad is investing RM50.25 million to construct a specialized precast manufacturing plant in Tanjung Manis, Sarawak. Scheduled to launch production by late 2027, the facility aims to supply heavy concrete infrastructure components while bolstering local employment and regional supply chain capabilities.

MALAYSIA —Construction has commenced on a designated 29-acre site situated along the Rejang River in Tanjung Manis, Sarawak, designated for a high-output precast concrete manufacturing facility. Spearheaded by PMW Winabumi (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, the development involves a capital commitment totaling RM50.25 million. Upon reaching full operational capacity by early 2028, the installation is projected to generate a monthly output of 10,683 tonnes of specialized structural products, including spun piles and utility poles tailored for heavy civil engineering applications.

This regional expansion directly addresses escalating material demands across key developmental sectors in East Malaysia, including major transportation pathways and civil utility corridors. By positioning localized manufacturing hubs closer to large-scale infrastructure corridors such as the Pan Borneo Highway and the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road, project stakeholders aim to mitigate logistical bottlenecks and reduce material transit expenditures. Furthermore, the integration of dedicated regional production lines ensures a more reliable supply of critical structural elements required for accelerated telecommunication and electrical grid modernizations.

The establishment of this manufacturing plant holds considerable economic significance for Central Sarawak by fostering industrial diversification and reducing reliance on imported precast materials. The initiative aligns closely with state-level economic roadmaps, specifically supporting industrial growth targets under broader developmental frameworks like the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 and the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan. By integrating local enterprises into specialized manufacturing ecosystems, the project contributes to structural enhancements in regional industrial competitiveness and long-term economic resilience.

For corporate strategists and institutional investors, the venture underscores the viability of targeted capital deployment into East Malaysian industrial zones. The initiative is expected to create approximately 160 direct employment opportunities while mandating that over 50 percent of raw materials be procured through localized vendor networks. Collaborative frameworks focusing on technology transfer and technical workforce training are designed to elevate regional engineering standards, establishing a sustainable foundation for subsequent industrial investments across the territory. PMW International Berhad operates as an integrated infrastructure solutions provider specializing in pre-stressed spun concrete products and related manufacturing machinery across Malaysia.
