Polaris Renewable Energy has signed a 30-year Mixed Investment Agreement with a trustee acting on behalf of Comisión Federal de Electricidad for three renewable energy projects in Mexico. The projects combine approximately 250 MWdc of solar capacity with battery energy storage, marking a key step toward financing, construction, and long-term operation.
According to official disclosures, Polaris Renewable Energy Inc., through its Mexican project structure, has executed a Mixed Investment Agreement (Contrato de Inversión Mixta) with Banca Mifel, acting as fiduciary trustee on behalf of Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The agreement establishes the contractual framework governing the joint development, financing, construction, ownership, and operation of three renewable energy projects over a 30-year period.
Polaris Renewable Energy is a renewable power company focused on developing, owning, and operating clean energy assets across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its portfolio includes hydroelectric, geothermal, solar, and wind generation projects.
The three projects comprise approximately 250 MWdc of solar generation capacity and 61.6 MW/192.0 MWh of battery energy storage. They include the Los Girasoles project in Quintana Roo, Solar Energía Tres Hermanos in Tlaxcala, and Don Humberto in Sinaloa, with commercial operations targeted between 2028 and late 2028. Following execution of the agreement, the parties will finalize additional project documentation, including power purchase, trust, management, and operation and maintenance agreements.
The development supports Mexico's strategy to expand renewable generation and energy storage while strengthening grid reliability. The projects are expected to create opportunities for engineering firms, EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, battery suppliers, financiers, and infrastructure investors. For businesses and investors, the milestone demonstrates continued momentum in Mexico's utility-scale clean energy market and highlights the role of long-term public-private partnerships in supporting renewable infrastructure investment.
