POLAND —Aerospace propulsion manufacturer Pratt & Whitney is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Central Europe through a $25 million investment to enlarge its facility in Niepołomice, Poland. Scheduled to become fully operational in 2028, the project will scale up the production of complex tubular assemblies and precision components while creating over 120 technical jobs. The facility currently manufactures key componentry for civil and defense engine programs, including the GTF commercial engine, the PW800 business jet powerplant, and the F135 engine utilized in F-35 fighter jets.
Pratt & Whitney operates as a business unit of RTX, a global aerospace and defense provider headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. RTX delivers advanced technologies across commercial aviation and defense systems, employing over 180,000 personnel worldwide.
The expansion directly addresses rising global order backlogs and production bottlenecks across the commercial passenger, business aviation, and military defense sectors. Supported by the Polish Investment Zone Programme, the initiative reflects a broader corporate strategy to strengthen aerospace supply chains, mitigate manufacturing capacity constraints, and enhance output reliability for major aircraft programs worldwide.
By expanding its manufacturing infrastructure in Poland, where parent company RTX maintains its largest international workforce of over 9,500 employees, the capital deployment reinforces Central Europe's position as a vital hub for specialized defense and civil aerospace manufacturing. This commitment aligns with a parallel $100 million investment in nearby Rzeszów, positioning the region to capture growing global defense spending and heightened post-pandemic commercial aircraft deliveries.
For international supply chains, the operational growth enhances component supply security across major defense platforms and commercial airliners. The capital outlay positions Pratt & Whitney to more efficiently support over 90,000 engines currently in service globally, providing long-term structural capacity to satisfy escalating aerospace procurement demands.
