Provigil Surveillance has secured an INR 2.91 billion contract from Northern Railway to deploy artificial intelligence video analytics, facial recognition, and command center infrastructure across multiple stations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027.

INDIA —Provigil Surveillance Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Magellanic Cloud Limited, has been awarded a letter of acceptance valued at INR 2.91 billion by the Moradabad Division of Northern Railway. The mandate involves deploying comprehensive electronic surveillance infrastructure at designated railway stations situated between Laksar Junction and Haridwar, as well as Haridwar and Rishikesh. The primary objective is to manage crowd safety and monitoring operations for the Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar. The project scope encompasses the installation of Internet Protocol-based closed-circuit television cameras, video management software, recording servers, storage systems, and advanced video analytics equipped with facial recognition capabilities. Additionally, the execution entails establishing centralized command and control infrastructure, network management frameworks, firewalls, and display terminals. The contracted timeline for full project deployment is set at three months from the date of the award, followed by a five-year annual maintenance contract succeeding the initial warranty period.

This development underscores a broader institutional shift toward leveraging automated surveillance and artificial intelligence for high-density public events and transit hubs. Mass gatherings such as the Kumbh Mela present severe logistical and crowd management challenges, making real-time monitoring critical for public safety and incident prevention. By integrating automated facial recognition and intelligent video analytics into railway corridors, the deployment aims to mitigate security risks, streamline crowd flow, and enhance situational awareness for law enforcement and railway authorities. The initiative reflects growing reliance on smart transit infrastructure to safeguard national transportation networks during peak pilgrimage events.

The contract significantly strengthens the market position of Magellanic Cloud Limited and its surveillance subsidiary within the public infrastructure and railway security sectors. Headquartered in Hyderabad, India, Magellanic Cloud Limited operates as a global technology enterprise specializing in digital transformation, cloud computing, automated surveillance, and drone technologies across multiple industries. For industry participants and institutional investors, the project highlights expanding commercial opportunities in government-backed smart infrastructure projects. Companies specializing in edge computing, video analytics, and integrated command systems stand to benefit from similar public procurement initiatives aimed at modernizing transit security.
