QATAR —QatarEnergy, the state-owned petroleum company of Qatar, has officially invited bids for an Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC) project for the Amine Pumps Replacement Project at the NGL-3 Plant in Qatar. QatarEnergy operates as the primary entity responsible for the development, production, and distribution of Qatar’s vast oil and gas reserves, playing a pivotal role in global energy markets. The strategic tender aims to address operational vulnerabilities and enhance processing efficiency across the country's gas infrastructure.
The scope of work encompasses the EPIC contract to replace eight amine pumps at the NGL-3 Plant to secure long-term production, addressing issues associated with existing equipment that is aged, oversized, and at the end of its useful lifespan. The project requires complete engineering, procurement of replacement machinery, professional installation, and commissioning of the new pumping systems.
Replacing the failing amine pumps is critical to mitigating operational risks that directly impact downstream energy distribution. Continuous pump failures pose a severe risk to the supply of up to 1,023 MMSCFD of lean gas and 4,015 tonnes per day of stabilized condensate, which are essential feedstocks for domestic utilities and major industrial consumers.
By ensuring uninterrupted supply to key industrial operators including Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), QVC, QAFCO, QAFAC, QASCO, QAPCO, Q-Chem, and the QatarEnergy Refinery, the initiative reinforces national supply chain security and industrial stability.
