Following the sale of these assets to Chrysalis Renewables, Qcells is leveraging its vertically integrated supply chain to deliver domestically manufactured infrastructure, bolstering regional grid reliability.

Solar technology provider Qcells is executing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) duties for the 372 MWdc Atlas V and VI solar phases in La Paz County, Arizona. This follows the recent divestment of the assets by Qcells' affiliate, Hanwha Renewables, to the Morrison-backed investment vehicle Chrysalis Renewables. Qcells operates as a major US-based manufacturer of photovoltaic modules and utility-scale energy systems. Under the current arrangement, the manufacturer will maintain long-term asset management while exclusively supplying domestically produced solar panels, mounting systems, and battery storage products.

This deployment validates a fully vertically integrated project lifecycle within the utility-scale renewable sector. By retaining direct oversight of component manufacturing, site construction, and post-completion management, developers can tightly control supply chain risks and ensure stringent quality assurance. Furthermore, utilizing domestically produced hardware secures critical tax credit eligibility for the new asset owners while mitigating international logistical vulnerabilities.

The installation directly impacts the southwestern power market. Regional utility Southern California Edison has secured the generated power through long-term purchase agreements. These initial phases serve as foundational components of the broader Atlas Energy Park, an infrastructure megaproject targeting 2.8 GW of solar capacity and 5.7 GWh of storage by 2028. Upgrading this rural infrastructure substantially enhances grid stability across California and Arizona, helping to alleviate transmission bottlenecks during periods of peak demand.
