According to official disclosures, Qualitas Energy, a global renewable energy investment and development firm, has purchased a 164 MWp solar photovoltaic project in Illinois. The asset was acquired from Bechtel Enterprises, an infrastructure investment arm of a multinational engineering company.
The acquisition targets the Midcontinent Independent System Operator grid, a critical region for United States power transmission. With commercial operations targeted for the third quarter of 2029, the fully permitted project addresses growing regional demand for clean electricity.
Strategically, the developer plans to optimize power purchase agreements for corporate, industrial, and hyperscale data center clients. Furthermore, the site allows for the future addition of 64 MWac of battery energy storage. This solar-plus-storage capability enhances grid reliability and creates bundled revenue streams.
