The extended round attracted participation from lead investors DCVC and Kembara, alongside strategic backing from Sony Innovation Fund, imec.ventures, Lansdowne Partners, S3 Ventures, and Inkef. The capital injection will support international facilities expansion, including a research site in Maryland, and advance custom silicon co-development within global semiconductor supply chains.
Founded as a spin-out from University College London and Oxford University, Quantum Motion specializes in silicon spin-qubit technology designed to operate within standard silicon CMOS fabrication processes. Unlike competing quantum architectures that depend on complex, proprietary components, the firm utilizes established chip manufacturing lines to build fault-tolerant quantum processors with reduced footprint and energy demands.
The integration of quantum computing components into conventional semiconductor manufacturing offers a scalable route toward mass production and commercially viable quantum utility. By leveraging existing global supply chains rather than building bespoke hardware systems, developers can significantly lower capital expenditure and accelerate deployment timelines for high-performance computing systems.
