RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has secured a ₹376.68 million contract from the Ajmer Division of North Western Railway. The project entails installing 4x48F optical fiber cable (OFC) across 568.24 route kilometers to support the Indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has secured a major domestic order valued at ₹376.68 million from the Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (Sr. DSTE), Ajmer Division, North Western Railway, to deploy critical communication infrastructure for the Indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System.

Under the terms of the contract, RailTel will be responsible for the provision of 4x48F Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) for the Indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System over all divisions of North Western Railway, covering a total distance of 568.24 route kilometers. The domestic contract was officially awarded on August 6, 2026, and is scheduled for complete execution within a 12-month period ending August 6, 2027.

This development marks a significant step forward in Indian Railways' effort to modernize its signaling network and enhance operational safety across high-density rail corridors. The deployment of 4x48F optical fiber cables provides the low-latency, high-capacity backbone required for the real-time data transmission essential to KAVACH, an automatic train protection system engineered to prevent over-speeding and signal passing at danger. Key stakeholders impacted include railway commuters, who stand to benefit from improved safety protocols, as well as the broader defense and transportation ecosystem reliant on modernized national infrastructure.

From a policy and industry perspective, the contract underscores the Indian government's commitment to accelerating the rollout of indigenous railway technologies under the 'Make in India' initiative. Securing this project strengthens RailTel’s positioning in the high-growth railway telecom and signaling sector, reaffirming its competitive edge in executing large-scale telecom engineering projects for public transport networks. Industrially, it signals sustained capital expenditure by Indian Railways into core technological upgrades, creating opportunities for telecom hardware supply chains and signaling equipment manufacturers.

For investors and market participants, the order adds robust earnings visibility to RailTel's order book while reflecting stable order flow from state-owned enterprises. RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, is one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in India, maintaining an extensive optical fiber network along railway tracks. North Western Railway, a key zonal division of Indian Railways headquartered in Jaipur, oversees extensive rail transit operations across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, and Punjab.
