RENK Group and KNDS Deutschland have expanded their supply arrangement for Leopard 2 transmission systems through an order valued at approximately €130 million. The package includes HSWL 354 transmissions, TCS-354A control units and G4MA11 gear selectors, with deliveries planned between 2029 and 2032.

GERMANY —RENK Group AG and KNDS Deutschland have agreed to expand an existing supply order worth approximately €130 million for transmission systems and associated components used in the LEOPARD 2 main battle tank platform. The expanded package covers HSWL 354 transmissions, TCS-354A control units and G4MA11 gear selectors.

Deliveries are scheduled to run from 2029 through 2032. The equipment is intended for LEOPARD 2 main battle tanks and other vehicles within the same vehicle family, extending the supply pipeline for a platform operated by armed forces across multiple countries.

The order is relevant to military vehicle production and fleet sustainment in Germany and other NATO member states. Transmission systems are essential to vehicle mobility, making the availability of these components an important factor in manufacturing schedules, new vehicle deliveries and the maintenance of existing fleets. The inclusion of control units and gear selectors also extends the scope beyond the transmission assembly itself.

The scale of the existing LEOPARD 2 fleet provides context for the agreement. KNDS reports that approximately 3,300 LEOPARD 2 tanks and related family vehicles are deployed by the armed forces of 23 countries. In June 2026, RENK began production of its 4,000th HSWL 354 transmission, reflecting the established production base for the system.

RENK supplies propulsion and transmission technology for military and other applications, while KNDS Deutschland manufactures land defence systems, including armoured vehicles. The expanded order strengthens their existing industrial relationship and provides a multi-year delivery schedule extending into the next decade. For defence manufacturers and military procurement stakeholders, such orders support component planning and coordination between subsystem suppliers and vehicle production programmes. The announcement does not disclose how many transmissions are covered by the expanded order or identify the individual customer allocations.
