Saab and PGZ deepen naval cooperation with Polish supply chain integration

Saab has signed an agreement with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa to collaborate on naval vessel lifecycle support, integrate PGZ entities into Saab's supply chain, and pursue export opportunities. The agreement also establishes a future Underwater Technology Centre in Poland and includes joint evaluation of Saab's Autonomous Ocean Drone and heavyweight torpedo collaboration.

Saab has signed an agreement with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa expressing interest in collaborating on the service and lifecycle support of surface vessels and submarines, integrating PGZ Group's naval domain entities into Saab's supply chain, and pursuing selected export opportunities for both surface and underwater platforms including rescue vessels, according to an official announcement. The agreement also intends to establish a future Underwater Technology Centre in Poland, with joint evaluation of Saab's Autonomous Ocean Drone and exploration of heavyweight torpedo collaboration.

Saab is a Swedish defence and security company. PGZ is a Polish defence industry holding group. The agreement results from a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Saab and PGZ at the MSPO event in Kielce in September 2025. In March 2026, the two companies signed another agreement setting out collaboration on in-country submarine maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities within Poland's Orka submarine programme.

This development matters for the Baltic Sea security and NATO's eastern flank, where deepening partnership between Polish and Swedish industry contributes to enhanced security. The companies are also exploring further possibilities to work on defence solutions for multi-domain operations and production of mortar munitions in Poland.
