Saipem expands energy infrastructure backlog with €0.8 billion contracts in Ivory Coast and Italy

Saipem has secured two engineering and construction contracts worth approximately €0.8 billion, covering offshore oil and gas infrastructure in Ivory Coast and a biofuel processing expansion in Italy. The awards reinforce investment in both conventional hydrocarbons and lower-carbon fuel production while extending the company's long-standing collaboration with Eni Group.

Saipem has won two new engineering and construction contracts with a combined value of approximately €0.8 billion, according to official disclosures. The projects span offshore oil and gas development in Ivory Coast and biofuel infrastructure expansion in Italy, reflecting continued investment across both conventional energy production and energy transition assets.

The larger offshore assignment was awarded by Eni Côte d'Ivoire and its project partners for the third development phase of the Baleine oil and gas field. Saipem will carry out engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of subsea infrastructure, including around 50 kilometers of rigid pipelines, subsea production systems, flexible risers, jumpers, a gas export flowline and subsea umbilicals. Operations will be performed in water depths reaching approximately 1,300 meters, with the project scheduled to run for about three years using the FDS and Shen Da construction vessels.

In Italy, Enilive awarded Saipem an engineering, procurement and construction contract to build a new deoxygenation unit at the Venice Porto Marghera biorefinery. The facility will process approximately 70 tonnes of biogenic feedstocks per hour, increasing Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biofuel production capacity. The award follows earlier EPC work for biojet fuel production at the same site under the companies' broader biorefining collaboration.

The contracts illustrate how energy companies are continuing to invest simultaneously in hydrocarbon supply security and lower-emission fuel production. Offshore developments such as Baleine support regional oil and gas output in West Africa, while biorefinery upgrades contribute to expanding renewable fuel capacity needed to meet evolving transport decarbonization requirements in Europe.

For engineering, procurement and construction contractors, the awards highlight sustained demand for specialized offshore installation capabilities alongside growing opportunities in renewable fuels infrastructure. Equipment suppliers, subsea technology providers, vessel operators and industrial manufacturers are also positioned to benefit from continued capital spending across both market segments. Investors will view the contracts as reinforcing Saipem's project backlog, execution visibility and diversification across traditional energy and energy transition projects.
