Salience Labs has closed a $125 million Series B funding round led by Bullhound Capital to accelerate the manufacturing and deployment of its optical circuit switching technology. The investment will support geographic expansion into the United States and address escalating bandwidth demands within artificial intelligence datacenter networks.

UNITED KINGDOM; UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Salience Labs has successfully closed a $125 million Series B financing round to accelerate the production and deployment of its optical circuit switching technology. The investment was spearheaded by Bullhound Capital, which will now hold a seat on the board of directors. Additional backing was provided by prominent technology and financial entities, including AMD Ventures, Intel Capital, SBI Group, Hudson River Trading, and the British Business Bank, alongside continued participation from existing stakeholders.

This capital injection is strategically allocated to scale high-volume manufacturing operations and establish a secondary corporate footprint in Silicon Valley. The expansion addresses a critical inflection point in artificial intelligence infrastructure, where traditional electronic networking is increasingly insufficient for connecting thousands of graphics processing units across multiple server racks. By transitioning to all-optical switching architectures, datacenter operators can mitigate severe latency and power consumption bottlenecks that currently constrain large-scale model training.

The broader semiconductor and cloud infrastructure sectors stand to benefit significantly from this technological shift. Industry projections indicate that cumulative expenditures on backend datacenter switches for artificial intelligence applications could reach $1 trillion globally between 2026 and 2030. As scale-up networking is anticipated to dominate more than half of this market by the end of the decade, early movers in integrated silicon photonics are positioned to capture substantial market share. This development directly impacts hardware manufacturers, cloud service providers, and enterprise developers seeking optimized system efficiency.

From a strategic perspective, the funding validates the commercial viability of proprietary optical amplification and fully integrated photonic switch designs. Salience Labs is actively collaborating with established semiconductor manufacturing partners to transition its prototype configurations into mass-producible higher port count solutions. This operational scaling, combined with an expanded United States presence, will enable the firm to compete directly with legacy networking vendors while satisfying the escalating bandwidth requirements of next-generation computational facilities.

Established in 2021, Salience Labs is an Oxford-based developer of silicon photonic solutions designed to eliminate networking bottlenecks in artificial intelligence workloads. The enterprise builds upon more than ten years of joint academic research conducted at the University of Oxford and the University of Münster.
