Saipem’s joint venture in Saudi Arabia has secured a €900 million share of a major EPC contract for the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant. The project is expected to extend field productivity, support rising domestic energy demand, and strengthen local engineering and construction capabilities under a national industrial development initiative.

Saipem announced that its jointly controlled Saudi venture, Saipem Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri Contracting Company (SNSH), has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant in Saudi Arabia. Saipem’s share of the contract is valued at approximately €900 million, with project execution scheduled over about 42 months.

The facility will serve the Uthmaniyah non-associated gas field and is intended to enhance gas production efficiency while extending the operational life of the asset. According to official disclosures, the project is designed to help meet increasing energy requirements within the Kingdom. The award is significant because it marks the first EPC project granted under Saudi Arabia’s National EPC Champion Program, an initiative aimed at strengthening domestic engineering, procurement and construction capabilities and increasing the use of local expertise and resources in large-scale energy developments.

The contract is expected to generate opportunities across the energy, industrial construction, engineering services and supply-chain sectors. It also reinforces Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to expand gas infrastructure and localize strategic industrial capabilities.

Saipem is an Italy-based engineering and construction group focused on energy and infrastructure projects worldwide. SNSH combines Saipem’s engineering and project management experience with the construction capabilities of Saudi contractor Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri and Partners Company for Contracting, enabling execution of complex onshore energy projects within the Kingdom.
