SAUDI ARABIA —Saudi Arabia is strengthening its healthcare self-reliance by localizing the manufacturing of advanced biologic therapies. Under a strategic framework inked at the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit 2026, the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority partnered with pharmaceutical manufacturer MS Pharma to transfer production technology for two critical biologics, Ustekinumab and Aflibercept, into the Kingdom.
This initiative directly addresses the regional demand for specialized therapies targeting autoimmune disorders and complex ophthalmic conditions. By embedding the complete production lifecycle within local facilities, including a recently established biologics plant in Riyadh, the domestic healthcare ecosystem reduces its dependence on imported pharmaceuticals while establishing a foundation for advanced biotechnology capabilities.
