The National Water Company has finalized the second phase of its strategic water security plan in western Riyadh, constructing five new reservoirs with a total capacity of 180,000 cubic meters to support rapid urban expansion.

The National Water Company (NWC) has finalized a major infrastructure project in western Riyadh, representing a capital investment exceeding SAR 128 million. As Saudi Arabia’s state-owned utility provider, NWC manages the kingdom’s water supply, wastewater treatment, and sanitation infrastructure. This latest development introduces five new water reservoirs, including a primary facility with a 100,000 cubic meter capacity and four supporting units of 20,000 cubic meters each, establishing an aggregated storage volume of 180,000 cubic meters alongside a pumping station capable of moving 125,000 cubic meters daily.

This deployment is part of the second phase of Riyadh's strategic water program, aiming to fortify national water security. Rapid urban migration and commercial expansion in the capital have placed unprecedented demands on localized public utilities, making infrastructure scale-ups critical for stabilizing utility networks.

The expansion directly impacts municipal administration and regional development by boosting the distribution efficiency of the daily water supply across multiple western districts. Upgrading utility capabilities aligns the city's underlying resources with broader national modernization goals and population projections under Saudi Vision 2030.

For enterprise stakeholders and real estate developers, a resilient utility grid reduces operational risks associated with resource shortages. The acceleration of these state-funded engineering works indicates a robust public procurement pipeline, offering sustained opportunities for engineering firms and industrial suppliers specializing in large-scale resource management solutions.
