INDIA —Semiconductor equipment manufacturer Lam Research is committing nearly ₹100 billion to establish its inaugural silicon component manufacturing plant in India alongside a major expansion of its research and development facilities.
The upcoming manufacturing plant will enable vertically integrated operations, covering silicon ingot production and processing for cutting-edge semiconductor node technologies. Concurrently, the R&D expansion will enhance the capabilities of the company's existing engineering center in the country, which already handles critical product design, testing, validation, and technology development for global clients.
This substantial capital deployment aligns with India's broader strategic push to build an end-to-end semiconductor supply chain and establish domestic high-tech manufacturing capacities.
