Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has injected INR 100 million into its wholly owned unit, Shakti Energy Solutions Limited (SESL), to finance a new solar cell and photovoltaic module manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh with a total annual capacity of 2.20 gigawatts.

INDIA —Indian solar pumping solutions provider Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has committed INR 100 million in fresh equity to its fully owned subsidiary, Shakti Energy Solutions Limited (SESL). The capital deployment is designated to fund the development of a greenfield manufacturing unit in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The upcoming site will focus on producing high-efficiency Domestic Content Requirement solar cells and solar photovoltaic modules, aiming for an aggregate operational capacity of 2.20 gigawatts.

Shakti Energy Solutions Limited (SESL), founded in September 2010, specializes in solar structures and rooftop assemblies. The unit generated INR 2.39 billion in revenue during the 2026 fiscal year, expanding from INR 2.17 billion in fiscal 2025 and INR 1.40 billion in fiscal 2024. Its parent firm, Shakti Pumps (India) Limited, operates as a prominent manufacturer of energy-efficient submersible pumps and solar-powered pumping systems for agricultural and industrial applications.

This capital allocation underscores a broader strategic pivot among Indian energy equipment vendors toward backward integration in the solar supply chain. By establishing in-house production for photovoltaic cells and modules, the enterprise aims to satisfy domestic sourcing directives, secure its upstream component pipeline, and capture market share within government-supported solar installation programs.

The expansion aligns with national clean energy targets and regional efforts to scale up renewable manufacturing infrastructure in central India. Enhancing localized supply chains reduces dependency on imported components, mitigating international logistics vulnerabilities while strengthening domestic capabilities across the renewable power generation sector.
