Shakti Pumps has secured an empanelment contract worth INR 1.12 billion from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to supply 4,755 off-grid solar water pumping systems under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana across Maharashtra.

INDIA —Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has selected Shakti Pumps (India) Limited to implement a major off-grid solar water pumping initiative across the state of Maharashtra. Under the empanelment, the company will deliver 4,755 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems spanning capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The project carries an aggregate commercial value of approximately INR 1.12 billion, inclusive of taxes, with an execution timeline set at 60 days following the issuance of formal work orders or notices to proceed.

This development underscores the escalating momentum behind decentralized solar applications in India's agricultural sector. By providing off-grid solar pumps directly to farmers, the initiative addresses critical rural energy challenges, offering a reliable, daylight-hour irrigation solution that mitigates reliance on conventional grid power and diesel-powered generators. For agricultural communities in Maharashtra, the rollout enhances water security, optimizes operational costs, and supports sustainable farming practices.

From a broader policy and market perspective, the empanelment aligns with national and state-level renewable energy mandates aimed at decarbonizing agricultural power consumption and reducing electricity subsidy burdens on state utilities. The rapid execution timeframe of 60 days highlights the growing emphasis on swift infrastructure deployment within public solar schemes, driving operational performance standards across domestic manufacturers and engineering service providers.

For Shakti Pumps, securing this empanelment solidifies its competitive market standing in the solar pumping and renewable water management sector. The order boosts revenue visibility and reinforces the company's manufacturing and distribution capabilities within the domestic market. Shakti Pumps (India) Limited is an Indian manufacturer specializing in energy-efficient pumps, solar-powered pumping systems, and specialized motors for agricultural, industrial, and commercial applications.
