Shakti Pumps India has been empanelled by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company to deploy 15,000 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems under a state agricultural scheme. The INR 3.54 billion contract supports solar-powered irrigation infrastructure and is scheduled for completion within 60 days of the work order.

Shakti Pumps India has received a letter of empanelment from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for the establishment of off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra, according to an official disclosure. Under the contract, the company will design, manufacture, supply, transport, install, test and commission 15,000 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems (SPWPS) with capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP under the state's Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The contract is valued at INR 3.54 billion, inclusive of GST.

The project supports the expansion of solar-powered irrigation infrastructure, reducing dependence on conventional electricity for agricultural water pumping while advancing renewable energy adoption in the farming sector. The contract is scheduled to be completed within 60 days from the issuance of the work order or notice to proceed.

Shakti Pumps India Limited is an Indian manufacturer of energy-efficient pumps and solar pumping systems, serving agricultural, industrial and domestic markets. MSEDCL is Maharashtra's state-owned electricity distribution utility, responsible for supplying power across the state and implementing various government energy initiatives.

The award is expected to benefit manufacturers, EPC contractors, component suppliers and solar equipment providers participating in India's renewable energy and agricultural infrastructure ecosystem. For businesses and investors, the contract reflects continued public investment in decentralized clean energy solutions and rural infrastructure, creating opportunities across the solar technology and irrigation value chains.
