Siemens and Palo Alto Networks introduce integrated cybersecurity architecture for industrial private 5G systems

Siemens and Palo Alto Networks have unveiled a jointly validated cybersecurity framework for industrial private 5G networks at Mobile World Congress 2026. The solution integrates secure connectivity and advanced firewall technology designed to protect AI-driven manufacturing environments while maintaining low-latency performance required for real-time industrial operations.

Siemens announced a new cybersecurity solution for industrial private 5G networks developed in collaboration with Palo Alto Networks during Mobile World Congress 2026. The offering combines Siemens’ private 5G infrastructure with Palo Alto Networks’ next-generation firewall technology, following validation testing to ensure network resilience, high availability, and operational continuity in industrial environments. The solution is designed for data-intensive manufacturing operations that rely on wireless connectivity to manage sensors, robotics, and mobile production assets. As factories adopt AI-driven systems and real-time analytics, private 5G networks are increasingly becoming a core communications backbone.

However, these networks also expand the potential attack surface for cyber threats, creating new security challenges for operators. The jointly developed architecture addresses this gap by integrating three security components: Siemens’ on-premises private 5G infrastructure, the SINEC Security Monitor platform for continuous network monitoring, and a firewall system from Palo Alto Networks optimized for operational technology protocols.

According to the companies, the system was tested across multiple deployment scenarios at Siemens’ Digital Connectivity Lab in Germany to verify that cybersecurity controls do not disrupt the low-latency communication required for industrial automation. The solution aligns with IEC 62443 security standards for industrial control systems and supports regulatory frameworks such as the EU’s NIS2 directive, which requires stronger cyber defenses for critical infrastructure.
