Skanska has launched the CZK 1.5 billion second stage of its Habitat urban revitalization project in Prague. Featuring 188 low-energy residential units, the project incorporates advanced eco-friendly technology and aligns with rising demand for sustainable infrastructure across Central Europe.

CZECH REPUBLIC —Skanska is advancing its large-scale urban regeneration strategy in the Czech capital through a CZK 1.5 billion commitment to build the second stage of the Habitat residential project. The new expansion encompasses 188 energy-efficient homes alongside 9 commercial units, backed by a CZK 1.1 billion internal construction agreement that will be recorded in the firm's European order intake for the third quarter of 2026. Building operations are set to launch in late September 2026, with full project delivery projected for the first half of 2029.

Skanska Group is a global construction and project development corporation headquartered in Sweden. Operating across selected regional markets in Europe, the Nordics, and North America, the enterprise generated SEK 179 billion in revenue in 2025 and maintains a workforce of approximately 25,900 employees globally.

The investment reflects an accelerating shift in European real estate development toward brownfield redevelopment and climate-resilient urban infrastructure. Designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating, the development integrates green roofs equipped with photovoltaic and photothermal installations, alongside greywater treatment and rainwater collection systems. These initiatives cater to stringent regulatory standards and growing consumer preference for low-emission housing across European metropolitan centers.

From an industry perspective, the commitment reinforces long-term institutional confidence in Prague's residential property market amid rising demand for well-connected housing near primary transit networks. Spanning a total plot of 70,000 square meters across six to seven planned phases, the overall Habitat district will ultimately deliver more than 1,000 apartments. The continued capital deployment highlights how major developers are leveraging sustainable urban renewal to drive recurring order bookings and protect portfolio value against evolving environmental requirements.
