SLB has agreed to acquire Houston-based reservoir modeling specialist Tachyus to strengthen its digital energy portfolio. The transaction is designed to enhance real-time reservoir optimization, improve production decision-making, and expand AI-driven workflows for oil and gas operators managing complex and mature assets.

SLB has entered into an agreement to acquire Tachyus Corp., a technology company focused on reservoir modeling and optimization software. According to official disclosures, the transaction will add advanced physics-based and machine learning-enabled reservoir management tools to SLB’s digital business, subject to customary closing conditions.

The deal reflects growing demand among oil and gas operators for technologies that support continuous reservoir monitoring and operational decision-making. As producers seek to maximize output from existing fields while improving efficiency, faster analysis of reservoir performance has become increasingly important for production planning and recovery strategies.

Tachyus develops software that combines reservoir physics with artificial intelligence to simulate field behavior under changing operating conditions. Its technology has been deployed across more than 7,500 wells worldwide, supporting applications including waterflood management, enhanced oil recovery programs, production optimization, pressure forecasting, and wastewater management.

For the energy technology sector, the acquisition highlights continued investment in digitalization and AI-enabled asset management. SLB plans to integrate Tachyus capabilities into its existing digital platforms, creating more connected workflows between reservoir engineering and production operations. The transaction is expected to strengthen SLB’s position in the market for data-driven energy solutions while providing operators with tools to improve recovery rates, optimize field performance, and support long-term asset value creation.

SLB is a global energy technology company providing services, software, and equipment to the oil and gas industry. Tachyus is a Houston-based software developer specializing in reservoir analytics, simulation, and optimization technologies.
