SLB's OneSubsea joint venture has been awarded an EPC contract by CNOOC to supply subsea production systems for the Kaiping 18-1 field in the South China Sea. The 20-well project includes standardized trees, manifolds, and control systems, with installation support and regional supply-chain integration.

SLB OneSubsea has received a multi-well integrated engineering, procurement, and construction contract from China National Offshore Oil Corporation for the Kaiping 18-1 field development in the South China Sea, according to an official announcement. The contract covers delivery of subsea production systems for 20 wells, including dual electric submersible pump systems, gas lift and gas injection horizontal trees, manifolds, connectors, and control systems, along with installation and commissioning support.

SLB OneSubsea is a joint venture formed by SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7, providing subsea production and processing technologies. CNOOC is China's state-owned offshore oil and gas operator, responsible for exploration and development in the country's territorial waters. The project applies standardized subsea architecture designed to reduce system complexity and compress installation schedules while minimizing offshore vessel requirements. Execution will involve collaboration with regional partners to support in-country manufacturing and supply-chain capability, contributing to efficient delivery and continuity for future developments.

This contract matters for the offshore oil and gas sector as it demonstrates continued adoption of standardized subsea systems for complex multi-well projects in Asian waters. The integrated delivery model, combining equipment supply with installation support, reflects industry trends toward streamlined execution and reduced project cycle times. For subsea equipment manufacturers and service providers, the award signals sustained deepwater activity in the South China Sea, one of the world's most active offshore regions.

Stakeholders including regional fabrication yards, logistics providers, and engineering firms stand to benefit from local content requirements embedded in the contract structure. The project also reinforces SLB OneSubsea's position in the Chinese offshore market following previous collaborations with CNOOC.
