INDIA —Indian solar energy company Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited has approved a major reallocation of its initial public offering proceeds to co-establish a 2.4 GW TOPCon solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing plant in Mohasa, Narmadapuram district, Madhya Pradesh. The firm will partner with Rays Power Infra Private Limited through Rays Green Energy Manufacturing Private Limited, taking a half stake in the entity for an aggregate subscription amount of up to INR 1 billion alongside an extended debt facility of up to INR 3.2 billion. The move diverts capital previously slated for a 1.2 GW cell production line at Pandhurana under its subsidiary, subject to shareholder approval at an upcoming annual general meeting.
Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited is an engineering, procurement, and construction services provider and solar module manufacturer based in New Delhi, specializing in turnkey solar power projects across India. Rays Green Energy Manufacturing Private Limited, established in 2022, serves as the manufacturing vehicle developing the Narmadapuram cell facility.
The strategic shift highlights the intensifying push among Indian renewable power developers to build integrated domestic supply chains. By establishing upstream solar cell production capability, Solarworld reduces reliance on external component vendors and secures long-term raw material supplies for its engineering and module integration businesses.
This joint venture directly aligns with India's broader industrial policy objectives to expand national photovoltaic manufacturing capacity and decrease import dependency in the clean energy sector. For solar project developers and investors, local cell manufacturing capacity offers greater supply chain resiliency, hedging against international trade volatility and regulatory hurdles in component procurement.
